Hello Friends:
It’s cold outside and the vines are taking a well deserved nap. I wish I could say the same for us! We’re busy preparing for bottling the ’09 whites. First up will be the 2009 Seyval, followed by the new 2009 Vidal Blanc, and a new (limited) release 2009 Traminette. Even though the hectic holiday season is now over, we’ve got a couple of activities planned to tell you about.
And now, here’s what is happening at the winery…
Upcoming Events:
Chili Cook-off
Cold outside? Come to the winery for a mid-winter chili cook-off. Bring your best chili entrees out to the winery to help put a thaw into the January deep freeze!
When: Saturday January 30th – 5:30pm
Where: Soine Vineyards Winery
Cost: Free (must have chili dish to participate)
Details:
Bring any chili-related dish out to the winery. Participants should plan on bringing chili warmed in a crock pot. Outlets will be available to plug in crock pots. Dishes will be judged by all in attendance. Dishes will be separated into three categories:
· spiciest,
· most unique, and
· best flavor.
Winners in each category will receive prizes for their award winning dish. Wine will be available for purchase by the glass and bottle. Bottled water will also be available for purchase. Soine Vineyards will provide bowls, utensils, and dipping bread. Please RSVP your attendance by January 28th!
Valentine’s Day Event
Soine Vineyards cordially invites you to a Valentine’s Day event at the winery featuring food and wine.
When: Saturday February 13th, 6p-8p
Where: Soine Vineyards Winery
Cost: $45/couple
The Goodies:
· One complimentary bottle of wine per couple from the wine list.
· Wine samples featuring 2008 Chambourcin and pre-release 2009 Marechal Foch wines.
· Chocolate fountain
· Hors d’oeuvres including:
o Spinach, Goat Cheese and Bacon Stuffed Mushrooms Topped with Herb Bread Crumbs
o Spicy Crab Cake with Remulaude Dipping Sauce
o Southwest Chicken Stars (a mix of bell peppers ,cheese, diced grilled chicken stuffed into a bite sized phyllo cup)
o Tiny Fruit Cabobs (great for chocolate fountain!!)
o Assorted Cheeses and Crackers
o Assorted Fruit
Details: Please reserve your spot by February 7th. There is limited space available (30 attendees), so please reserve early. Advance payment is required; no walk-in reservations will be taken. Checks should be made out to Soine Vineyards. Credit card transactions cannot be processed. Please mail the attached reservation form with payment.
Releases:
Cranberry - Release date: January 23rd
The naturally tart cranberry is nicely balanced with a touch of residual sugar.
Other News:
You can now find our wines at Buehler’s Fresh Foods supermarket (www.buehlers.com) located in Delaware! Buehler’s is currently carrying our 2008 Cayuga White, 2008 Chambourcin, and 2008 Riesling.
