Soine (pronounced soy-knee) Vineyards, established in 2003, is a central Ohio-based vineyard. The vineyard and winery are estate operated. The winery is located just north of Columbus at 3510 Clark-Shaw Road, Liberty Township, Delaware County; approximately 4 miles north of the Columbus suburb Powell, Ohio.
We are proud to announce that our 2016 Landot Noir won the distinction of being judged as an Ohio Quality Wine (OQW)! This designation is presented to only those wines that contain 90% grapes grown in Ohio. Our Landot Noir is 100% estate grown. Further, wines are evaluated by a panel of nationally recognized judges for sensory quality and wines must pass a strict chemical analysis. The 2016 Landot Noir joins our 2015 Traminette and 2014 Chambourin as the other OQW designated wines produced by Soine Vineyards!!
Also, the 9th Annual Chili Cook-off was a blast! We had 20 excellent entries. Awards were given for spiciest, most unique, best flavor, and best overall. There were over 50 judges! Thanks to all that participated and we look forward to making this even better next year.

Hello, Bacchus here with an update on the vineyard. You might be wondering what effect the cold weather has had on the grapevines. A quick bud assessment for our American and French Hybrid varieties show minimal damage has occurred. Primary and secondary bud counts range from 82% to 100%. Our tender vinifera however (Cabernet Franc) has had some significant damage with only a primary and secondary bud count of 53%.
There were six days in December and twelve days in January (so far) with temperatures below 10 degrees fahrenheit. The lowest temperature of -9 occurred on January 1st. Vinifera vines do not like it when it gets to -5 / -10 thus the bud damage we are seeing.
So what does all this mean? Well, at this time for the American and French Hybrid vines, not much. We will give them a normal prune in the spring. However, we will have to adjust the amount we prune on the Cabernet Franc to account for the loss of healthy buds. Of course, all of this is subject to change if we have another cold snap. There is still plenty of winter ahead. Stay tuned.
